We are an outdoor early years centre at Vogrie Country Park located between Gorebridge and Pathhead. Our base is within the walled garden of Vogrie park; however, we use the whole area of the park on a daily basis for our activities and experiences. 

Included in our nursery is a poly tunnel which provides shelter when the weather is extreme. In addition to that we have a Round House situated outside the walled garden which we use for group work and transitions groups. Within the walled garden area children grow vegetables all year round, which we use for our snacks and provide our market stall which is situated in our car park. We also have a bee sanctuary where the children are actively involved with the support of the beekeepers and the staff. The bees produce honey which we sell. 

We are open 49 weeks of the year. We have a maximum of 56 places per day for 3-5 year olds. We offer two models of attendance – fulltime which is 8 hours per day and 3 days per week over 49 weeks and a blended model which is term time only where we blended options available. All children are offered 2 snacks per day and a hot lunch which is provided by a local school kitchen. Our children come from across Midlothian. Children spend all day outdoors. We deliver the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence outdoors. We use the national benchmarks to assess children’s progress.
